Movie Helps Julia Childs Book Sell!
This is amazing! It looks like the late, great Julia Child’s famous cookbook, Mastering the Art of French Cooking, which of course was part of the storyline of the recently released movie Julie & Julia (along with Julie Powell’s book Julie & Julia: My Year of Cooking Dangerously) is seriously selling some copies since the film’s release in theaters! Right now, Child’s book is riding high at number one on Amazon’s Top 100 Books list, and has the number two spot on Barnes & Noble’s 100 current bestsellers list! Looks like a little on-screen help from Meryl goes a long way!
What’s more, according to Perez Hilton, the book, which was originally a whopping $40 by the way, sold out on Amazon yesterday, forcing them to order 75,000 more copies immediately! Yowza! Actually right now, Julia Child has three books in the top 25 on Amazon’s 100 list, but sadly, Julie Powell’s Julie & Julia: My Year of Cooking Dangerously, sits at number 31 on Amazon’s list, and doesn’t even break the top 50 on Barnes & Noble’s list. However, seeing your book inspire a movie is quite the constellation prize we’re sure.
